A 25-year-old man is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and drunk driving, amongst others, after he allegedly ran a red light and killed a young woman after crashing into her car in Westminster, Colorado.

The 21-year-old woman was driving home from work around 4 a.m. As she traveled through the intersection at Sheridan Boulevard and 118th Avenue, her car was allegedly struck from the side by a Porsche Cayenne SUV.

Police claim that the Porsche driver and his passenger ran from the crash site. One man was discovered nearby by a canine unit, police said, while they located another man in nearby Broomfield, just north of Westminster.

The driver was placed under arrest and was taken to Adams County Jail. He was being held on DUI and two counts of vehicular homicide, as well as charges for leaving an accident scene and driving with a revoked license. Police did not charge the passenger and released him.

A Denver television station reported that the driver already had two arrests related to alcohol, including one DUI.

Police investigators said a man fitting the description of the driver and his car was involved in an incident at a Taco Bell restaurant shortly before the accident. Restaurant employees called the police after a customer banged on the window.

There was no information available on any breath, blood or field sobriety tests conducted. It's also unknown what the man's blood alcohol content was at the time of the accident. These are crucial facts that could help the man prove that he was not legally drunk at the time.
